ONSHORE INVESTMENT BONDS
Technically, Investment Bonds are ‘single premium whole of life insurance policies’, offered by insurance companies. On death, they generally pay 101% of the value of the investment fund. In practise, they offer a combination of capital growth and income and as an investment vehicle they provide a range of funds in one wrapper, together with an explicit and competitive charging structure. They also offer an ability to draw a regular monthly income.
Since the underlying investment is in equities, a Bond, as a generalisation, should only be considered if the monies are available for at least a five year commitment. Furthermore, the charges that are involved make encashment in the early years inadvisable.

The value of investments and income form them may go down. You may not get back the original amount invested.
